Sometimes I Blog, Sometimes I Don't!

I Did It!

Well, I did it! I shouldn't be surprised because I do it at some point EVERY year but not usually in September!

I TURNED ON MY FURNACE!

Yes, you heard me correctly, the heat has been turned on in Lynn's house already! It got down into the 40's over the weekend and there is only so much a blanket and warm clothes can do for a person. So, I turned it on and man did it warm up in my house quick! Woo!

I am going to stop out and get a few things at Lowe's today...

1. Plastic for the windows - I think I might plastic my windows this year (I did it a few years ago and I am not really sure it saved me money but I am going to try it again)

2. Insulation for the hot water tank (I am told that this will help)

3. I need a few more pieces of insulation for my water pipes to completely finish (this has helped)

4. A new leaf blower (the one my dad has is gas powered and I cannot get it started so I am buying an electric one).

5. A few extra furnace filters.

Article In News

I read the Buffalo News Everybody's Column almost everyday. I am catching up on a few days that I have missed and there was a man that wrote in with something intersting to say. I actually just emailed it to a friend of mine that really should show it to her husband; not that it would change anything for her. I don't think that it's just men that need to change their ways, women do as well. Parents in general need to learn how to be better parents so that their kids grow up to be responsible members of society that have manners and respect for others. What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

Fathers need to grow up, start acting like adults
9/27/2006

The problems that challenge our society are a result of the fact that many of today's adult males are not doing the job of previous generations. Many of my brethren are stuck in a state of perpetual adolescence. The problems plaguing our communities are a direct result of adults acting as boys rather than men.

Television is not an influencing factor; rather it is a reflection of our culture. The programs simply mirror society. Look at two of the most popular TV icons: Homer Simpson and Tony Soprano. Homer is an underachieving goof and Tony is an overstuffed womanizer with a big mouth and a gun. When our fathers behave like Homer and Tony, we get smart-mouthed kids and homes filled with desperate housewives.

The true reality telecasts often seen are families who don't eat or even live together, which explains skyrocketing instances of teen pregnancy and violent crime. The result is a society on the edge because the males are too busy watching cartoons and playing tough guy. The advice is simple: get off the couch and treat your children's mother with respect. Then possibly someday we can again watch Howard Cunningham and the happy days will return.

Something To Celebrate!

Today marks the FOURTH anniversary that I bought my house! I am not at all sure where the time has gone; some days it seems like I have always lived there and others it seems like I just moved in. I can remember that day 4 years ago when I closed and immediately afterward went to the house to check it out. Putting the key in the door for the first time was terrifying, wonderful and exciting at the same time. It was really quite interesting!

Tonight, I am making myself a nice dinner and having a glass of wine to celebrate the day!

End Of The Week Happiness

It's going to be another rainy weekend in the B-Lo! I swear that summer is no doubt over and fall has begun and I am SO not ready for it! I was actually hoping to get some more things done around the house this weekend but if it's going to rain that probably will not happen.

This week has been one of the longest for me at the new company. Every night this week I had some business function to attend and I have to say that I am beat! I am looking forward to going home and doing NOTHING all evening! I am going to swing out and pick up a bottle of wine and go home and veg.

Have a fabulous weekend peeps!
